Time Away from Work

What your break could mean.

When to use this assessment: Whether your time away from work is planned or unexpected, this assessment helps you understand what it could mean for your KiwiSaver.

Something to recognise it later – your name, or the scenario you're testing.

In years.

What's the current income before any change.

Most people use 65 (when KiwiSaver unlocks and NZ Super starts), but your plan is what matters.

Your PIR is the tax rate on your KiwiSaver returns, set by your taxable income in the last two tax years (the lower year governs): 10.5% up to $15,600 · 17.5% up to $53,500 · 28% above that. Your provider shows it in your app or annual statement. If unsure, leave blank and we'll estimate it from your income.

Free to use. This assessment shows projections based on what you enter – it isn't financial advice. How we work
